A junction, three kilometres (2 mi) ahead on the same highway, splits from the main route towards Kalimpong. Teesta Bazaar is located four kilometres (2.5 mi) downstream from the industrial town of Melli.

Location

Located 16 km from Kalimpong, Teesta Bazaar is favourite haunt for adventure enthusiasts. It is a popular white-water rafting spot in West Bengal. Rafting season continues from mid-November to mid-February.
The town itself is fairly small. From above, Tessta bazzar looks like small castle in a bay of river, Walk up the hill and you can look down on the whole town with views down to the deep valley floor below. Tessta bazzar is a first destination for the people coming form Siliguri, Darjeeling, Sikkim and Kalimpong.
In Teesta Bazaar you will get the facilities for group rafting. Though an innocuous looking Teesta river, the underlying current is very strong. In 1915, G.P. Robertson, the then Municipal Engineer of Darjeeling, drowned after losing control of the boat in the turbulence while surveying the river. The boat struck a partially hidden boulder and was sucked in by a whirlpool, leaving no trace of the occupants.
